Directors Nick Rayner Director

A graduate of Sheffield University’s school of architecture, Nick is a qualified architect (RIBA) with an RIBA Certificate in Project Management. He joined EPR in 2005, following more than five years of experience in the commercial and residential sector. He also has prior experience in design for the disabled through working on projects with leading charities.

Since joining the practice, Nick has been responsible for a broad portfolio of projects, chiefly in the hotel and hospitality sector. These include the recently launched Great Scotland Yard Hotel, a technically challenging project which involved the demolition of the entire existing structure whilst the retained façade was supported. Previous project experience includes Hilton at the Ageas Bowl, The Radisson Blu in St Helier, Hampton by Hilton at Gatwick and Premier Inn's Hub Hotel on Brick Lane. Nick has also undertaken roles of audit and design consultancy in order to advise on hotel schemes including the Palace Hotel Kiev and the Çirağan Palace Istanbul.

Whether a luxury hotel, limited service apartments or an extended-stay aparthotel, Nick believes that the guest’s experience is paramount. His comprehensive knowledge of hospitality design results in welcoming, vibrant and memorable hotels that marry a refined layout with efficient operation.

Building on EPR’s established track record in both hospitality and residential sectors, Nick has utilised his experience in design for the disabled to develop schemes for senior living communities. These have involved close collaboration with diverse design teams and the specialist knowledge of the client and operator.

Nick continues to contribute to the practice’s Quality Management accreditation and has a passion for sustainable design – specifically the role of architecture in development and the delivery of sustainable buildings and communities.
